In radiology, the main challenge has always been to obtain very high-resolution images whilst minimising X-ray exposure. Traditionally, scan parameters were set manually, with the risk of overexposing the patient or, conversely, obtaining images that were not sufficiently sharp.
Newtom has responded to this challenge with SafeBeam™, an intelligent system that automates protection.
How does SafeBeam™ work?
SafeBeam™ is an ‘active’ technology that automatically adapts to the anatomical characteristics of each individual patient. Instead of using fixed standard protocols, the system:
1. Analyses the patient in real time during the preliminary stages of the scan.
2. Adjusts the emission parameters (kV and mA) according to bone density and tissue dimensions.
3. Eliminates any risk of overexposure, ensuring that only the dose strictly necessary for an image of excellent diagnostic quality is delivered.
