Cefla and GE together for the Acea new district heating plant

Acea Spa, one of Italy’s most important multi-utility companies, has entrusted Cefla Plant Solutions and General Electric‘s Distributed Power division with the large project for the modernization and upgrading of the existing district heating plant in Tor di Valle, just south of Rome, with the goal of improving energy efficiency and reducing environmental impact.

When the project is completed by the end of 2017, the new 19 MW district heating power plant is expected to provide high-efficiency thermal energy to 50,000 users.

The project is an excellent example for municipal utilities and service providers. Cefla and General Electric will ensure Acea their support in optimizing the supply of energy with an integrated system that collects thermal energy from new engines, ensuring a continuous supply of heat and taking advantage of generation of electricity only during peak periods, when the energy value is greater.

The modernization of the Tor di Valle district heating plant will be designed and developed by the consortium of General Electric and Cefla. GE will supply the generators and related auxiliary equipment for the groups. Cefla will develop the engineering aspects of the plant, providing project management, ensuring plant supplies and taking care of the entire plant’s installation, including the civil infrastructure.
