One way to improve solar ray transmission is to apply a special, smooth paint to the external surface of glass plates used on solar panels. This coating is completely transparent and must be applied evenly in very low quantities. This particular coating is applied for anti-reflection and anti-dirt (outdoor environment) purposes but is, above all, designed to make it easier for the solar rays to pass through the glass.
Thanks to technological advances in silicon cell technology and ever-more frequent surface coating of the glass, photovoltaic panel performance levels have increased sharply in just a few years. Only a few days ago a new experimental-level efficiency record of around 40% was announced, while currently available panels allow us to convert between 13% and 20% of solar energy into electricity.
