How supermarket cashiers adjust when handling articles
During the early part of 2012 INRS (National Institute for Research and Safety) in France expects to publish a new standard regarding supermarket checkout ergonomics. Almost two years in the making the standard aims to formalise requirements for this type of workstation. As part of INRS's work to understand the conditions in specific areas they also carry out targeted studies. In this case a synopsis of a recent study carried out is now available in english. The study highlights the most likely physical problems and offers where to focus resources in order to reduce the risks.
